Predictable Traffic Highway Safety

Utah’s Roads Are Safer ----------------As Predicted!

On my last posting, I “predicted” that Utah’s roads were safer than my home state’s (Florida’s roads). More importantly, I made this prediction without looking at stat one. I based the prediction on simple observation while driving Utah roads while on vacation.

Upon returning to Florida from my vacation to Utah I looked up the statistics and sure enough Utah’s fatality rate per hundred thousand population was 38% safer than Florida’s (for 2008).

How did I make this prediction and what is the implication?

The how is simple, I and all my readers know that safe roads are mostly about 5 key safe-driving habits and these habits are easy to spot. The implication: If one can spot these “safe driving” habits; one can make sure their loved ones drive with those habits; and just as critical, can make sure everyone that drives a loved one also has these habits.

The good news it only takes about a 15 minute ride with anyone to know their risk potential on our dangerous roads. The fact is you, I, our families, and communities can avoid traffic accidents caused by those drivers that are aggressive, inattentive, drunk, or young (that don't drive with our safe driving habits).
